Sunday’s 23-7 victory over Mexico was preceded with a 13-5 triumph against Belgium the previous day and it meant Hong Kong would not finish below 16th out of the 28 competitors even before their final Group B match with Israel.

In 2019, Hong Kong finished 18th out of 20 teams.
