The edited highlights
China’s Paralympians are winning so many gold medals that it’s just hard to keep up at the moment. Still, there have been some special performances in Paris, with world records tumbling in the process.
The nation’s 14th gold overall at the Games came came thanks to javelin thrower Zhao Yuping, who set a world record of 47.06 metres in the F12 category for athletes with a moderate visual impairment.
And in the women’s S11 50m freestyle, swimmer Ma Jia finished in a world record 28.96 seconds, lowering her own previous best of 29.20, which she set at the Tokyo Paralympics.
Track cyclist Li Zhangyu, meanwhile, claimed his sixth Paralympic gold medal, and second in Paris, in the men’s C1-3 1,000m time trial. In a repeat of Thursday’s 3,000m race, teammate Liang Weicong took silver.
There was archery gold too in the women’s individual W1 competition for Chen Minyi, while Li Yingli took the women’s shot put F37 title with a throw of 13.45 metres. Teammate Mi Na had a season best 13.19 to win silver.
