The Tokyo Games bronze medallist has been battling a long-standing issue with her right elbow, and officials said they were “working on all fronts” to get Doo as fit as possible in the next three weeks.

Coach Zhang Rui described Doo’s injury in her right elbow as “unstable”, and said it was causing the 27-year-old some pain.

“We just hope to make sure she can finish the Games without any setbacks,” she said.

“We are working on all fronts, medical, physio and psychological to help her, but we are not using any painkillers yet, that will be considered, however, during the tournament.”
