Great Britain’s coaches lauded the importance of the World Lacrosse Super Sixes tournament in Hong Kong on Sunday, after their men’s and women’s teams won their respective competitions in some style.

The women were never troubled in their final against Germany, establishing a comfortable 7-2 half-time lead behind a pair of goals from Lottie Robertson.

The pre-tournament favourites netted 10 more after the restart to seal a commanding 17-6 win at Wong Chuk Hang Recreation Ground.

Despite outscoring their opponents 80-26 in four matches, Alisa Stott, the head coach of the women’s team, believed the result “did not reflect” the toughness of some of their opponents.

“The Sixes is still quite a new format of the game, so every time we play, we learn something else about the tactics, and the game management,” she said. “It’s just a great opportunity to play here.

“We’ve never played against the Philippines, or Hong Kong and China, so to learn about some new teams, to share some ideas about Sixes and just to gel as a group and get lots of really good competitive match practice in.”
