A fifth medal in Chengdu, after the city’s Wushu athletes won one gold, one silver and two bronze, bettered the four medals in total Hong Kong claimed at the 2017 edition in Taiwan.

Headlined by Olympians Doo Hoi-kem and Minnie Soo, Hong Kong dominated the group stage, with comfortable wins over Mongolia, Korea and Macau.

They then cruised past India 3-0 in the quarter-finals, before losing by the same margin to Japan in the final four.

With no third-place play-off to settle the rankings, Hong Kong and Taiwan each pocketed bronze medals.
