Former world No 5 snooker player Fu, world No 2 women’s player Ng On-yee and 50 others from the billiards community have put their names on petitions to Hong Kong’s Sports Federation and Olympic Committee (SF&OC) and the regional governing body to put pressure on the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).

They hope it will stir cue sports governing bodies around Asia to add their voices to the Asian Games cause.

“I was very happy to put my full support behind this petition,” said Fu, a three-time Asian Games gold medallist who beat China legend Ding Junhui in the 2010 singles final. “Asian Games inclusion is so important for the future of billiard sports in Hong Kong – not for only the current players, but to attract future generations of players too.

“I hope the SF & OC can continue their good work with a final push for our cause. It is quite possible that 2022 would be my last chance to ever represent Hong Kong at an Asian Games. I sincerely hope I get that opportunity.”
