Hong Kong’s Clarissa Lyra rides to showjumping bronze medal in China’s National Games

The 21-year-old wins Hong Kong’s first equestrian medal in Tianjin after a jump-off for third place in the two-round competition

Hong Kong equestrian team rider Clarissa Lyra claimed a bronze medal in the jumping individual competition on Thursday at the National Games in Tianjin.

Riding Catokia 2, the 21-year-old Lyra won her first National Games medal and the first equestrian medal for Hong Kong at this year’s Games. Catokia 2 is a 10-year-old provided by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, especially for this competition.

Lyra rode superbly and was tied with four other riders with a total of 12 faults to force a jump-off for the bronze medal in the two-round competition.

Lyra, the second-youngest rider in Thursday’s competition, was competing with 20 riders at the Metropolitan Polo Club.
