Australia’s Daniel Nisbet eagled the first play-off hole to win the PGA Tour China Series Clearwater Bay Open after edging out American Alex Kang on Sunday.

The pair had finished tied at the top of the leaderboard at 15-under-par after overnight leader Kang could only manage a final round of one-under 69 having started the day in possession of a seemingly commanding four-shot lead.

With Nisbet in the clubhouse after a six-under 64, Kang had a chance to claim victory outright in regulation but two putted the final green from 12 feet.

That meant the pair headed back up the 18th and Nisbet enjoyed a stroke of luck as his tee shot bounced off a cart path and into the fairway.

That set up an iron shot to 10 feet, and with Kang having to chip up from the side of the green following a wayward second shot having initially found the fairway off the tee in a more conventional way, Nisbet held his nerve to seal victory.
