Hong Kong athlete Yeung Man-wai breaks own high jump record in Taiwan meet

University of Hong Kong student improves her mark to 1.83 metres, breaking her highest clearing – by a mere 1cm – set in Wan Chai event this month

High jump athlete Yeung Man-wai bettered her own Hong Kong high jump record twice in a month after she won her event at the Taiwan Athletics Open on Friday.

The University of Hong Kong student leapt 1.83 metres in Taoyuan, a 1cm improvement on her 1.82m record set at the Hong Kong Athletics Championships in Wan Chai on May 8.

In Taoyuan, Yeung cleared the bar on her first attempt at every new position from 1.68m onwards until she hit 1.83m.

All three attempts at 1.85m failed, but the result was good enough to put her on top of the standings in Taoyuan.

Michelle Sng of Singapore was second after clearing 1.8m, while third place went to Seok Mi-jung of South Korea (1.77 metres).
