Chelsea Hung was fourth in the elite female junior category.
The impressive results underline the improvement of the Hong Kong squad, following their success in the Asian Championships in Taiwan last month and last week’s breakthrough senior category victory by Hilda Choi in Kazakhstan.
However, Choi found it tough yesterday, finishing 12th in the women’s race.
Tim Law and teammate Eric Wong were 15th and 21st respectively in the male elite open category.
“It’s very encouraging to see such depth within the team … the lads are pushing each other for podium slots at all the Asian races,” said Fenella Ng Gar-loc, president of the Hong Kong Triathlon Association.
“Of the six athletes who placed in the top 12 at the Asian Triathlon Championships last month, all are considered potential podium contenders on their given day.”
