Carrying two heavy trophies from the Asian Individual Championships on arriving at Chek Lap Kok airport on Wednesday night, Hong Kong squash star Annie Au Wing-chi found it impossible to go home by public transport - the way she normally does.

She had to take a taxi trip, an unexpected one - just like her younger brother Leo Au Chun-ming's victory at the championships in Kuwait.

"He was also awarded a plate, but it's with my coach now as I couldn't carry another item," said Annie.

Last time when I won the title, he was asking when it would be his turn. So it was unbelievable that he made it come true

While Annie, who lost to world number one Nicol David of Malaysia in the women's final, flew back to Hong Kong, Leo, the newly crowned Asian men's champion, headed to England for the British Open qualifiers.

Annie, 26, said she "jumped with joy" when her brother beat reigning Asian Games gold medallist Abdullah al-Mezayen in straight games to claim the title.

"Last time when I won the title, he was asking when it would be his turn," said Annie.

"So it was unbelievable that he made it come true. We were still thinking if it was real at dinner [after the finals].

"He has improved a lot and was very focused in his matches."
