Choosing a LIV Golf team is like deciding where to go to college, International Series money list leader Ogletree says
- Andy Ogletree says he is chatting to a couple of teams ahead of playing in LIV events next season
- He only needs to make the cut at the Hong Kong Open to wrap up the series order of merit
Andy Ogletree only needs to make the cut at the Hong Kong Open this week to secure the International Series order of merit, and with it a place on the LIV Golf circuit next season.
The American took a big step towards that goal on Thursday, shooting a five-under-par 65 in the Asian Tour event at Hong Kong Golf Club.
Although still mathematically within reach of the likes of David Puig and Kieran Vincent, Ogletree has had top spot in the money list sown up for several weeks. And as a result he has been “in conversations with a couple of different [LIV] teams” – a decision the Georgia Tech alumnus compared to deciding where he wanted to go to college.
“It’s a really exciting time for me, and it’s going to be a really big decision for me going forward of which team that I want to be on,” Ogletree said. “Hopefully, I’ll be on that team for a long time. So it’s kind of like a college golf choice.
“It’s like, which team do you want to be on? Which team do you see yourself with and which team gives you the best chance of playing the best golf?”
On Wednesday, LIV revealed details of how a transfer window and free agency within its tour would operate, with players also being sorted into three categories.
