European Solheim Cup hero Carlota Ciganda has said she would not rule out joining a women’s version of the controversial Saudi Arabia-backed LIV Golf tour.

Spaniard Ciganda is among a host of illustrious names, including world No 1 Lilia Vu, and third-ranked Ko Jin-young, preparing for this week’s three-day Aramco Team Series (ATS) event at Hong Kong Golf Club.

The ATS comprises five events on the Ladies European Tour (LET). Ciganda, who nervelessly holed the putt for Europe to tie with the United States and retain the Solheim Cup in Spain last week, won this year’s ATS second leg in Florida, which was sandwiched by events in Singapore and London.

The final ATS tournament this year will be staged in Saudi capital Riyadh from October 27, eight months after Ciganda – who also competes on America’s LPGA Tour – was among the field for a regular LET event in the Kingdom.

LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman has said he “would love to see a LIV ladies’ series”.

“I would have to see the conditions [around any women’s LIV tour, before deciding],” Ciganda told the Post. “I am very happy on the LPGA tour, I enjoy playing the best players in the world and I would like to continue doing that.
