Scottish Women’s Open: Hong Kong pair Tiffany Chan and Ginnie Ding to take on world’s best at Dundonald Links

  • Title sponsor Freed Group, a tech company based in the city, has invited local duo to play in next week’s tournament

Hong Kong pair Tiffany Chan and Ginnie Ding will compete against the world’s best in the Scottish Women’s Open next week after being handed sponsor’s invites.

Chan, who competed alongside South Korea’s Haeji Kang at last week’s Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational, is the city’s only professional playing on the LPGA Tour, while Ding is a raising amateur.

The pair will go up against major winners Yin Ruoning and Minjee Lee at Dundonald Links, as well as China’s Lin Xiyu and Yu Liu, and defending champion Ayaka Furue.

Freed Group, a technology company based in the city, is the tournament’s title sponsor and co-founder Abel Zhao said his firm was “honoured to invite top-tier local athletes to this illustrious event”.

Chan and Ding will be the latest Hong Kong golfers to make their presence felt on the international stage, with the likes of Taichi Kho and Alex Yang having qualified and played in The Open Championship and US Open respectively.
