Asian Tour: Taichi Kho relishing ‘new challenges’ as Hong Kong amateur tackles International Series Singapore
- The 21-year-old is coming off ‘one of the best golf experiences I have had in my career so far’ at last week’s Indonesia Open
- Kho was in contention against some of region’s best until back nine of final round, and hopes to build on his performance in Singapore
Taichi Kho said he will go into this week’s International Series Singapore on a high after his performance in Indonesia, but is well aware of the “new challenges” he faces.
After finishing in a tie for 11th in a field that included some of the region’s best at the Mandiri Indonesia Open last week, Kho now goes up against the likes of 2018 Masters champion Patrick Reed, and Scott Vincent, who won the previous series event in Newcastle.
The Hong Kong amateur is no stranger to competing against golfers of that calibre though, having played in the PIF Saudi International in February and the International Series England in June, where he finished in the top 25.
On Sunday, Kho ended his tournament in a group on 13-under at Pondok Indah Golf Course, a performance built on a stunning eight-under 64 in his first round.
Despite finishing seven shots behind eventual winner Gaganjeet Bhullar, he was in contention until the back nine of the final round and said it was “one of the best golf experiences I have had in my career so far”.
“The crowds and the atmosphere was something that was quite new to me, it’s different from amateur tournament crowds,” Kho said.
