Chan bogeyed the 17th – as well as six other holes in her second round – to finish six over par overall and miss her chance of making it to the weekend in Minnesota.

The 25-year-old had a second-round 77, which coupled with her opening-round 73 was just shy of the 149 needed to make the cut.

It will be a case of what might have been for Chan, who had been tied for fourth heading into the par-three 17th hole on Thursday during her first round. A double bogey cost her dear and she ended the day tied for 32nd, one over par.

Australia’s Hannah Green took the lead on seven under par after 36 holes with a second-round 69, the lowest score of the whole field on Friday.
