Arsenal down Man Utd, Liverpool’s thrilling draw, Man City back? Finau denies LIV talk
English Premier League leaders pegged back late against Newcastle, as chasing pack all secure impressive victories
Waking up at 3.30am to watch live football can be a lonely place.
That is until you take a look out of your flat window and spot a neighbour doing the same thing. Solidarity, my friend.
Anyway, for those of you who were sleeping, here’s what you missed.
Game of the Century part 3
In the mid-1990s, Liverpool v Newcastle produced back-to-back 4-3 victories for the hosts with the first of those often considered the best game in English Premier League history.
Well, early this morning we saw an encounter to almost match those as the two sides drew 3-3 at St James’ Park – and this time it was Newcastle who struck late.
Alexander Isak’s thunderbolt had put Eddie Howe’s side ahead at half-time and the two sides traded goals before Mohamed Salah inevitably put the visitors 3-2 ahead on 83 minutes.
However, that was not the end of proceedings at Newcastle levelled at the death through Fabian Schar.
The nostalgics were screaming for a late penalty shout to go Liverpool’s way with the looming possibility of a third 4-3, but it was waved away.
