Midfielder Wu Chun-ming said Lee Man’s current leadership void would not derail the club’s AFC Champions League Two campaign.

Lee Man, who host Bangkok United at what is expected to be a sparsely populated Mong Kok Stadium for an unsociable 6pm kick-off on Thursday, have no points from two games and are rooted to the bottom of Group G.

Within 24 hours of losing their second match, against Tampines Rovers in Singapore three weeks ago, they parted company with head coach Tsang Chiu-tat.

Title-winning coach Tsang did not have the necessary qualifications to officially coach in Champions League football and the same is true of interim boss Chu Siu-kei. It was, therefore, left to coach Szeto Man-chun to join Wu in speaking to the media on the eve of the game.

Szeto said he “could not answer” when Lee Man would unveil Tsang’s successor. And Wu, 26, added that it was “not a big deal for the players whether the decision is made soon or not”.

“No matter who is the head coach, we always follow the instructions … in football, changes happen very quickly, and no one knows who will stay or leave,” Wu said.
