On repeat: it was yet another busy night of Uefa Champions League action.
There were shock defeats for holders Real Madrid and Bayern Munich as well as late comeback victories.
But don’t worry, there was plenty of other sport as well.
And while we try to figure out what last night’s results mean in this new Champions League format, here is a round up of what happened while you were sleeping.
Heroic Villans

Aston Villa v Bayern Munich was a repeat of the 1982 European Cup final, which the English side won – and incredibly they repeated that result here.
A club that just five years ago was playing in England’s second tier overcame the mighty Bayern thanks to Jhon Duran’s stunning second-half strike.
Unai Emery was reported to be high on the seemingly 100-man shortlist for the role of Bayern manager but chose to stay in Birmingham and the Bavarians eventually settled for Vincent Kompany.
And this was another famous night in the Spaniard’s incredible managerial career on the continent, where he has won the Uefa Europa League four times.
Two games, two wins, not one goal conceded so far for Villa in the Champions League. We still have no idea what this means within the context of this new 36-team format but the question needs to be asked: could Villa win it?
Slot’s jackpot

Arne Slot became the first Liverpool manager to win eight of his opening nine matches as Mohamed Salah’s brilliant strike helped seal a 2-0 victory against Bologna in the Champions League.
Slot has made a flying start to his reign after replacing Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool’s second successive victory in this season’s Champions League was another landmark moment for the Dutchman.
During his time at Feyenoord, Slot was eliminated three times in Europe – in every possible competition – by Italian teams and has clearly been out for revenge.
After overcoming AC Milan in their opener, they swatted aside Bologna to make it a perfect start against two of Serie A’s finest.
Real trouble?

Champions League holders Real Madrid never make it easy for themselves.
A tense 3-1 win over Stuttgart in the opening match was followed up by this shock 1-0 defeat to French side Lille.
Even the second-half introduction of Kylian Mbappe, whose speciality in club football has been beating Ligue 1 sides, wasn’t enough.
Jonathan David scored the only goal in first-half stoppage time and, despite their array of Galacticos, something just doesn’t feel quite right with Madrid this season.
So cue a 16th European crown, then.
Rest of the UCL
Juventus’ young guns came out on top in a thrilling match against RB Leipzig.
Down to 10 men and losing 2-1 in Germany, they rallied to score twice with Francisco Conceicao netting the winner late on.
Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid were humbled in Portugal as Benfica beat them 4-0 with ex-Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria on the scoresheet.
The early games saw Europa League holders Atalanta beat Shakhtar Donetsk 3-0 away, while Slot’s former club Feyenoord scored late to win a thriller 3-2 against Girona.
Club Brugge won 1-0 at Sturm Graz and an 89th-minute penalty earned Monaco a 2-2 draw at Dinamo Zagreb.
Out of Luk

Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic will miss a week of preseason preparation after suffering a left-calf contusion during a workout, the NBA team said.
The Mavs said the Slovenian star took a knock while training and would be re-evaluated in a week.
Dallas open their preseason campaign on Monday with a home game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
They open the regular season against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs on October 24.
A little extra
Cricket: Mark Adair took four wickets for Ireland but it wasn’t enough as South Africa won the opening cricket match of their ODI series by 139 runs. South Africa hit 271-9 thanks to opener Ryan Rickelton’s 91 runs in 102 balls – with three sixes and seven fours – and 79 from Tristan Stubbs after winning the toss and choosing to bat in the first of three one-day internationals. Ireland were all out for 132 in 31.5 overs in reply.
NBA: The Los Angeles Clippers have extended guard Terance Mann’s contract. Mann averaged 8.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting 51 per cent from the field in 75 games last season. He was drafted by the Clippers with the 48th overall pick in 2019. He is likely to have a bigger role this season, with Paul George and Russell Westbrook having departed to other teams.
America’s Cup: Britain’s Ineos Britannia yacht took a potentially decisive 6-4 lead over Italy’s Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli in the first-to-seven series in the Louis Vuitton Cup and are just one win away from booking their place to compete against reigning champions, Emirates New Zealand, later this month.
Football: Barcelona have brought former Arsenal and Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny out of retirement following a long-term injury to regular No 1 Marc-Andre ter Stegen. The ex-Poland international quit football after leaving Juve at the end of last season but said he would be “stupid” not to accept Barca’s offer, where he will team up with compatriot Robert Lewandowski.
