ONE Championship: Chelsea defender Reece James asks about training with Rodtang Jitmuangnon
The English fullback, who wrote to the fighter to say he might come to Thailand to ‘train a bit’, has been struggling with injury problems
Chelsea fullback Reece James is known for sliding into tackles but this week the England international footballer slid into Rodtang Jitmuangnon’s DMs (direct messages) as well.
James, 24, got in touch with the Muay Thai fighter to inquire about the possibility of training with him in Thailand.
James is regarded as potentially one of the best full-backs in the world, but these days he spends more time on the treatment table than on the pitch – he has been sidelined by a series of hamstring injuries and missed most of last season as well as the European Championships.
James, who was appointed club captain in August last year, has yet to make an appearance this season after undergoing hamstring surgery last December, and appears to be researching some alternative training methods.
Hence the message to Rodtang.
“One day I would like to come to your country and train a bit,” he wrote.
Rodtang replied, telling James that: “When you come to Thailand I will teach you Muay Thai and show you the fights.”
