Hong Kong is home to football fans from all over the world, a market that elite clubs have targeted to grow their fan bases.
But which team has the most supporters in the city?
The Post has trawled through the internet, looked at various supporters clubs and analysed Facebook pages to determine the No 1.
So here’s a look at the full top 10 … and No 3 in particular might surprise you.
10. Liverpool


4,400 followers
The Reds have a supporters group that is officially recognised on the club’s website.
For HK$220, you can join for the season and have benefits that include joining an 11-a-side football team, as well as tickets to Anfield – and the money is donated to charity ImpactHK, which aims “to provide the homeless with a connection to friends, society and a safe and comfortable home”. There is also a Supporter of the Year award.
9. Borussia Dortmund

It may surprise some readers to know that the Yellow Blacks are far and away the most followed German side in the city.
The official fan club was founded in 2014, and supporters were thrilled to see their heroes in action when the legends came for a friendly against Liverpool in 2019.
8. Manchester City

The Trafalgar Bar in Wan Chai screens most of the Citizens’ matches, though it depends on the kick-off time.
Founded by a group of City expat supporters in 2010, it became the first official club fan group in Asia.
7. AC Milan

Established in 2003, MFC (Milan Fans Club) was created by a group of “diehard” fans and is officially recognised by the club.
In December 2023, the club received a personal message from Rossoneri legend Alessandro Nesta that is proudly displayed on the club’s Instagram page.
6. Barcelona

FBFC was founded in 2016 and members enjoy gatherings for live screenings and take part in football matches as well as an annual barbecue.
The club has partnerships with specific venues across Hong Kong that can often accommodate late-night/early-morning screenings.
5. Real Madrid

It’s 1-0 to Los Blancos in the Hong Kong version of El Clasico.
The group also does an annual drive for its members to donate blood and, on World Blood Day 2023, Real Madrid shared a picture on their official fans Instagram account.
4. Juventus

The Turin giants are one step ahead of their rivals with a club office right here in Hong Kong’s Central district and you can join via the club’s official website.
There was controversy in 2020 when the club banned the Hong Kong branch for violating its rules.

The Lancashire side, and 1995 Premier League champions, enjoy a substantial following on their Hong Kong Facebook page, owed in part to their 2011 preseason tour.
2. Arsenal

“Bringing domestic supporters together as well as Gooners who travel here,” it explains on a page dedicated to the Hong Kong supporters’ group on Arsenal’s official website.
The group was established in 2002, and there are hubs in Kowloon as well as on the main island.

Created in 2000, it took 13 years for the club to be officially recognised by the Red Devils, when they received a welcome letter from then manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
MUSC HK is also registered as a not-for-profit organisation in Hong Kong, and has arranged various pilgrimages to Old Trafford.
