Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-min might have been among the deadliest strikers in the Premier League this season, but it appears his fellow professionals don’t rate him all that highly.

The golden boot award winner, who bagged 23 league goals as Spurs finished fourth and shared the award with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, has been left out of the PFA Players’ Team of the Season.

Son’s teammate, Harry Kane, also missed out in an XI that is made up of players from just four clubs.

It is the second year running that Son has been snubbed by the PFA. In a botched announcement in 2021, the Professional Footballers’ Association left him off their social media posts congratulating those players selected, despite naming him in the team.

The PFA later had to apologise for the mistake, saying “we love Sonny, he’s had a great season”.

Son’s exclusion this time comes as Salah and Sadio Mane were among six Liverpool players to be included, while Cristiano Ronaldo also makes the team despite Manchester United finishing sixth in the Premier League this year.

Manchester City have three players in the side after retaining their Premier League title while the selection of former Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger means there are only four Premier League clubs represented overall.
