Son Heung-min snubbed for second time by fellow professionals over Team of the Season, but Ronaldo, Mane make cut
- South Korean striker won golden boot award alongside Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah, but was left out of PFA Players’ Team of the Season
- Only four Premier League clubs represented in team, with Liverpool contributing 6 players
Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-min might have been among the deadliest strikers in the Premier League this season, but it appears his fellow professionals don’t rate him all that highly.
Son’s teammate, Harry Kane, also missed out in an XI that is made up of players from just four clubs.
The PFA later had to apologise for the mistake, saying “we love Sonny, he’s had a great season”.
Son’s exclusion this time comes as Salah and Sadio Mane were among six Liverpool players to be included, while Cristiano Ronaldo also makes the team despite Manchester United finishing sixth in the Premier League this year.
Manchester City have three players in the side after retaining their Premier League title while the selection of former Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger means there are only four Premier League clubs represented overall.
