South Korean star striker Son Heung-min scored the first goal of the Antonio Conte era at Tottenham Hotspur, just as he did under the club’s last two full-time managers,
Son put Spurs 1-0 up after 14 minutes of their game against Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem in the Uefa Europa Conference League on the way to the Italian coach marking a “crazy” opening game with a debut win.
The 29-year-old’s strike made it a hat-trick of scoring the first goal under a new a manager as he had done the same under Jose Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo, who was sacked this week after a poor start to the season.
Spurs were soon 3-0 up thanks to goals from Lucas Moura and a Jacob Rasmussen own goal but the Eredivisie side pulled back two goals, first through Rasmusen and then Matus Bero, to make it 3-2 after just 39 minutes.
The hosts were down to 10 men on the hour mark as Cristian Romero picked up two yellow cards, while Vitesse ended with just nine players as the score finished 3-2 for Conte’s first win.
