Theertha Satish scored the first 50 of the 2023 FairBreak Invitational in Hong Kong on Monday, as her Falcons side got some small measure of revenge against defending champions Tornadoes.

After being comprehensively beaten in last year’s final in Dubai, Falcons were comfortably the better side at Kowloon Cricket Club, making 150 for six from their 20 overs before easing to a 41-run win thanks to a fiery opening burst from Marizanne Kapp.

The South African seamer ripped through the top order, including having wife Dane van Niekerk caught behind for a duck, and took three wickets for just four runs as the Tornadoes struggled to 17 for one in little more than four overs.

While Sune Luus did her best to make a game of it, scoring 48 from 35 balls after being dropped by Mariko Hill on a duck, the 151 target was always unlikely.

And with spinner Sornnarin Tippoch, who finished with figures of 3-13, accounting for the middle order, the run chase stalled completely as Tornadoes were reduced to 83 for seven.

A show of defiance at the end from Winifred Duraisingam (13) and Chanida Sutthiruang (10) at least got them to three figures as they closed on 109 for nine.
