FairBreak Invitational: 13 of Hong Kong’s best get ready for 2 weeks of T20 cricket alongside world’s top players
- Alison Siu and Pull To will make their debuts in next week’s tournament at Kowloon Cricket Club
- Associate players will get to test themselves against some of the best players in the game
The second FairBreak Invitational begins in Hong Kong on Monday and 13 of the city’s cricketers will be involved in some form or another over the next two weeks.
Alongside the likes of women’s captain Kary Chan, and stars such as Ruchi Venkatesh, Yasmin Daswani and Mariko Hill, two of the city’s representative team, Alison Siu and Pull To, could make their debuts at the T20 tournament.
While Siu has Shanzeen Shahzad for company in a rejigged Warriors squad, To will start her FairBreak career with Chan in the South Coast Sapphires.
Hill and Marina Lamplough will be partnered in the K-Man Falcons, with Ventakesh joined in the Barmy Army by Iqra Sahar. Spending a second year with Tornadoes, Maryam Bibi will be hoping for a bit more action than she experienced in Dubai, with Natasha Miles also looking for more games.
Betty Chan, meanwhile, joins Daswani in the Spirit’s squad, while Keenu Gill, the only one of the baker’s dozen without an international appearance, will run out alongside Ventakesh and Sahar for the Barmy Army.
A former Hong Kong captain, Hill has the distinction of taking the first wicket in FairBreak history and said she was looking forward to playing on her home turf “in front of family and friends”.
