Manchester United fan Judd Trump says Red Devils should aim to emulate his snooker success
The snooker star, who is in Macau for an exhibition match, says the blame for the recent poor form lies with the players
Manchester United fan Judd Trump has urged the Red Devils to match his recent success as the English Premier League side continue to struggle under new boss Ruben Amorim.
World No 1 Trump was in Macau for the four-day Snooker Masters, where the Englishman beat fellow United fan Ding Junhui 5-1 on Wednesday.
And, speaking before their match at Wynn Palace, Trump said he felt the blame for his favourite side’s underachievement lay with the players, rather than the manager.
“I’d like them to be closer to maybe my success over the past two years than where they are now, but at the moment I think they are really struggling,” he said. “They obviously have their new manager in and are trying to implement a different style of play.
“I think they change the manager a lot but the players are always very similar and the results are staying the same, so I don’t think it’s the manager.”
The 35-year-old said the club needed to be very active over the next two transfer windows because “they need to really change the team and get a lot of new players in” for a fresh start.
