World Snooker Tour responds after Ding Junhui’s attack on quality of Scottish Open table
The 37-year-old had taken to Weibo to vent his frustration about the table after losing a round-of-16 match despite leading 3-1
Snooker’s world governing body responded furiously on Sunday to criticism about the match table at the Scottish Open after Chinese superstar Ding Junhui made his feelings public on social media last week.
Ding crashed out in the round of 16 of the tournament on Thursday despite at one point holding a 3-1 lead over former world champion Luca Brecel, but the Belgian won three frames on the trot to turn the tie around.
Following his loss, Ding took to Weibo to vent his frustration about the table, complaining about its quality.
“I have never played on a s*** table like this – the bounce on the cushion was the same as that of a spring,” he wrote. “How can one control the cue ball on such a table?
“A bunch of amateur table installers packed up a pile of s*** for the professional players to play with, and you dare call yourself a professional event.”
In a subsequent post, Ding said he could still live with the movement of the cue ball after potting the yellow.
