Eileen Gu reflects on ‘mind blowing’ 2022 and sets sights on more glory at Aspen X Games

Eileen Gu has reflected on a “mind blowing” 2022 – and set her sights on more glory at the 2023 X Games in Aspen, Colorado.

The 19-year-old, who was born and raised in California but opted to compete for her mother’s country of birth, became the youngest Olympic champion in freestyle skiing last February on home soil, winning gold medals in big air and half pipe, and a silver in slopestyle.

She also began an undergraduate degree at the prestigious Stanford University, having received a personal shout out from Chinese President Xi Jinping at a ceremony hailing China’s Beijing Winter Olympics heroes.

“I could write a book on 2022, but I’ll try to keep this recap short,” Gu wrote in an Instagram post.
