China’s Para cross-country skiers continued their gold rush at the Beijing Winter Paralympic Games on Wednesday, as the host extended its lead at the top of the medal table.

Zheng Peng eased to gold in the men’s sprint sitting event with a time of 2:42.40 to get things under way on day 5 at a sunny Zhangjiakou Biathlon Centre.
This was the 29-year-old Putian native’s second gold medal, having won one in the men’s 15km sitting event last Sunday.
Teammate Mao Zhongwu earned his second silver medal of the Games in a time of 2:44.90, while Canada’s Collin Cameron took bronze. Liu Zixu, who won China’s first gold medal in the men’s sprint sitting on Saturday, came fourth, with Wang Tao fifth.
“It was a really tough and close race,” Zheng said. “I’m really glad to get this gold because I might not have got it if I wasn’t as stable as I was.
