The rain-impacted opening day of the 2021 tournament also meant that Zhang Zhizhen’s chance to be the first Chinese man to play at the All-England Club in the Open Era was eventually delayed until Tuesday.

Zhang, 24, will start his first ever slam main draw at 6pm (Hong Kong time) when he will face France’s Andreas Hoang.

Wang lost to 22-year-old American Kenin in straight sets – 6-4, 6-2 – in just over an hour, following a long rain delay on the outside courts.
