Basketball fans in for a treat with world-class 3x3 stars set for Hong Kong Masters
- World No 1 team Ub Huishan NE and fourth-ranked Amsterdam will feature in final Fiba 3x3 World Tour leg
- Shaquille Maharaj insists local team Wu Kai Sha ‘can compete’ with elite players from around the world at Victoria Park later this month
Hong Kong basketball fans can expect to watch some world-class 3x3 stars play at Victoria Park when the Hong Kong Masters tips off later this month.
World No 1 team Ub Huishan NE, who triumphed at the Abu Dhabi Final last year, and Amsterdam, who ranked fourth on the tour, will feature in the final Fiba 3x3 World Tour leg in the city from November 25 to 26.
According to the governing body’s official website, Ub Huishan NE and the Dutch side have filled the two performance slots.
Ub Huishan NE had a tour-leading 46 victories this season after sweeping through the first six World Tour events from the Utsunomiya opener in Japan to Prague. Amsterdam, who have 19 wins in 31 games this season, reached the podium in Marseille and Cebu.
Shaquille Maharaj, a player for local team Wu Kai Sha, said he could not wait to go head-to-head with elite players from around the world.
“I think we can compete with some of the teams that are coming over here,” he said. “I know Tsoi Lung-tak has also played 3x3 for Hong Kong.
