In beating Kai Tak II 22-17 in the final, Wellman reached the qualification draw for the Hong Kong Masters, scheduled for November 25 to 26 at Victoria Park.

“I had been in town for just one week and now we have the chance to qualify for the main draw at the Hong Kong Masters,” the 26-year-old Maharaj said. “If we put some practice in we can really compete with some world-class teams.”

Maharaj, and teammates Tsoi Lung-tak, Hyman Hui Huen-hang and Yeung Sui-hung, breezed through the group and knockout stages with a combined score of 106-34 for a ticket to the final at the Wu Kai Sha Youth Village.

The team took an early lead against Kai Tak II when Maharaj chipped in four points to help put his side ahead 7-2.
