After being crowned double MVP of the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup tournament and final, China’s Han Xu received a fitting welcome upon her return to action in the WNBA.

While some of her teammates were flying back to China after their epic triumph in Sydney on Sydney, towering centre Han had to head to the other side of the world to resume club duty with the New York Liberty.

After landing in the United States, the 23-year-old linked up with her squad, who gave her a rousing reception backstage at the Barclays Centre, ahead of their match with the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday night.

“Go Hanny, go Hanny!” the team all chanted during their dressing room preparations, as Han performed a celebratory dance in the middle of their circle.

The video, which was posted to the Liberty’s social media channels, soon went viral on China’s Twitter-like platform Weibo, too.

Han did not suit up for the game, following her long journey back to the US. But when the 2.1-metre star walked out to the court to support her teammates, the New York fans shouted her name excitedly.
