Hero reaches for the Sky with a Classic Mile aim

The classic trail might just be warming up for this season's four-year-olds, but Me Tsui Yu-sak is already looking ahead to next year's Classic Mile with Sky Hero after an effortless Class Three victory.

Only two months ago, Sky Hero started at triple figure odds on debut before rattling into second behind Line Seeker, but after an easy win and another second to Line Seeker in the Griffin Trophy last time out, he started yesterday's shortest-priced favourite at $17.50.

And punters who took the odds-on quote were lining up to collect long before they reached the winning post after a peach of a ride from Douglas Whyte.

From the inside gate, Whyte positioned the three-year-old in the box seat, taking the horse to the lead under a hold at the 300m and running right through the line to post an easy one and three quarter length win.

"It was a great ride, and the way the horse dashed - he's improved a lot very quickly," Tsui said. "He's shown us plenty already and that was only his fourth start.
