The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)’s Hong Kong office held its Annual Dinner, the largest annual event, on 8th May. Officiated by Tim Christen, Vice Chairman of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants. This year’s annual dinner was branded under CGMA (Chartered Global Management Accountant). AICPA (American Institute of CPAs) members were invited to attend. More than 200 CGMAs, top CIMA exam winners, and senior contacts from the government, regulators, professional bodies, businesses and academia spent a joyous evening to celebrate the achievements over the past year as well as the successes of the year to come.
The Acting Financial Secretary of The Government of Hong Kong SAR, Prof K C Chan, GBS, JP; The Director of Accounting Services, The Treasury of The Government of Hong Kong SAR, Mr Martin Siu, JP, as well as the Vice President of Hong Kong Institute of CPAs, Mr Patrick Law, were among the guests.
The evening began with speeches by Dr William Chen, Chairman of CIMA Hong Kong branch committee. He highlighted CIMA’s groundbreaking achievements in the past year and shared ambitions for the future. And Tim Christen shared the successful launch of the new Association which joint-forces of AICPA and CIMA. He encouraged members to endorse the Association. This was followed by the presentation of awards to seven employers which embed CIMA into their talent programmes. Certificates were then presented to top exam winners.
