Heading downtown
Luxury shopping, fine dining and entertainment are attracting people from the city
With two commercial developments added to its attractions, Chengdu's downtown shopping circle is luring shoppers and visitors from the city and neighbouring areas to its luxury shopping, fine dining and entertainment offerings.
The Chengdu International Finance Square (IFS) is at the intersection of three major commercial roads - Hongxing Road, Dacisi Road and Beishamao Street, the busiest pedestrian shopping area in the city.
Jointly designed by architectural firms Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates and Benoy, the mixed-use development features premium-quality, contemporary working environment and spacious floor plate and an upscale shopping mall.
According to the developer Wharf (Holdings), the design is intended to create a new urban destination and act as a catalyst to regenerate the area. The project aims to bring new retail and business opportunities to the complex. It has an overall gross floor area exceeding 760,000 square metres.
Chengdu IFS's two office towers, the five-star hotel Niccolo and high-end apartment towers are on top of a multilevel podium of shopping centre, offering 210,000 square metres of premium space for retail, food and beverage and entertainment.
Its office tower fully meets criteria spelt out in the new "Grading Standard and Categorisation for Super Grade-A Office Towers in Chengdu". The complex is wholly owned by Wharf and is for lease only.
