It’s September, and you know what that means: it’s time to put away your swimsuits and sunglasses because it’s time to head back to school!

As your summer holiday ends, some of you might be happy to see your friends again. You might be looking forward to your classes or even be worried about the piles of homework your teachers could give you.

No matter what you’re feeling, it’s important to feel ready for your first day. Is your backpack organised? Do you have all your books and stationery? Is your uniform clean and ready to wear? Before school starts, make sure you have everything you need to be successful.

The start of the school year is a new and exciting beginning, so have fun and do your best. Have a great year!

Materials

  • printer paper

  • a piece of paper that is a bit thicker, like cardstock or construction paper

  • stapler

  • cardboard for support

  • stickers, glitter, and pens, for decorating

  • scissors

Instructions

1. Assemble your printer paper in a stack. Don’t make it too thick; use 15 pages at most.

2. Take the cardstock paper. Fold it in half so it has a crease, then lay it flat again. Place it on top of your stack of printer paper with the folded ridge standing up.

3. Place your stack of papers on the cardboard. Make sure all the papers are lined up.

4. Ask your parents to help with this next step. Open your stapler and staple the stack of paper at the top, in the middle, and at the bottom. The staple should line up with the crease in the middle.

5. Have your parents turn the stack over and fold in the staples with a pair of scissors.

6. Fold the notebook in half and decorate it as you please!
