Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming more prevalent in primary and secondary school classrooms in China. AI provides a modern approach to education while fostering scientific thinking and innovative skills among students.
Huiwen Middle School in north China’s Tianjin is one of the pioneers in incorporating AI into education. Since 2017, a school club has been supporting students’ exploration of AI.
“AI courses should be an essential element of education,” said Qu Wei, the school’s principal.
In Beijing 101 Middle School, an AI listening and speaking system has been incorporated into English classes.
Other ways to bring this technology into the classroom include using AI to review key points from the previous day and assess students’ reading skills. Coaches can use robots to help students refine their running techniques.
Some experts advise against relying too much on AI, as it can have biases. They advise pupils to learn to express their own thoughts and creativity.
