Four dead, including gunman, in Texas army base shooting
Fort Hood, the scene of a mass shooting in 2009, confirmed the shooting on the base
A gunman opened fire on Wednesday at the Fort Hood military base in an attack that left four people dead, including the shooter, at the same post where more than a dozen people were killed in a 2009 mass shooting, law enforcement officials said.
One of the officials, citing internal US Justice Department updates, said 14 others were hurt. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to release information by name.
A US law enforcement official said the shooter died of what appeared to be a self-inflicted wound. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.

A Texas congressman said the shooting happened at a medical centre at the base. Representative Michael McCaul, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, also identified the suspect as Ivan Lopez. But additional details about the gunman were not immediately available.
