Hong Kong police investigating after motorcyclist crashes into stopped vehicle and dies

Service vehicle was stopped less than 100 metres (330 feet) behind taxi on Lantau Link when accident occurred

Hong Kong police were investigating a traffic accident in which a 22-year-old motorcyclist rammed into the back of a stopped vehicle on the Lantau Link and died on Friday.

The force said the motorcycle was travelling towards Kowloon when the accident happened at 12.48pm.

“It reportedly rammed into a stationary light goods vehicle,” the force said.

Emergency services rushed the unconscious motorcyclist to Yan Chai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5.01pm.

The case was handed over to the special traffic investigation team for New Territories South, police added.

Authorities asked that anyone who witnessed the accident to report information by calling 3661 1348 or 3661 1446.
