German passenger dies after passing out on Cathay Pacific flight from Hong Kong
Man, 71, was declared dead at North Lantau Hospital on Sunday
Hong Kong police said they received a report that a man, 71, passed out on flight CX663 bound for the Indian city before take-off on Sunday.
The man was removed from the plane and transported to North Lantau Hospital, where he was later declared dead, the force said, adding that an autopsy would be carried out to ascertain the cause of death.
According to the Airport Authority’s website, the flight was scheduled to leave Hong Kong at 8.45pm on Sunday but was delayed and eventually departed at 9.51pm.
A Cathay Pacific spokesman said the company was deeply saddened by the incident and had extended its condolences to the passengers’ family.
The passenger became unwell just before take-off on Sunday night, with the crew immediately providing first aid and calling an ambulance, he said.
