Pictures circulated online showed massive damage to the black car and the luggage compartment of the bus ripped open.

The police said the traffic accident happened as the car travelled along Hing Fong Road towards Kwai Hing.

The two vehicles were in collision in the left lane near Kwai Chung Sports Ground at about 6.55pm.

All lanes on Hing Fong Road to Kwai Hing near Kwai Chung Plaza were closed to traffic as the accident scene was cleared.

The road closure also affected at least five franchised bus routes.
