Two winning tickets split Hong Kong’s record Mark Six jackpot of more than HK$138 million (US$17.7 million) on Tuesday night, after the lottery drew nearly HK$330 million in turnover.
Each winner takes home HK$69,234,020 after punters packed Hong Kong Jockey Club betting branches citywide earlier in the day for a shot at the record prize.
The numbers drawn were 8, 13, 18, 23, 31 and 47. The extra number was 16.
Fourteen tickets took the second prize, with each winner pocketing HK$844,560. The third prize was won by 651.5 tickets, with each taking HK$48,390.
The total turnover was HK$328,821,743.
After the New Year Snowball draw on Thursday went without a first-prize winner, the jackpot had reached more than HK$138 million for a single HK$10 winning unit.
At a Jockey Club betting branch in Central, dubbed the “luckiest” in the city, hundreds queued up for tickets.

By 1pm, hundreds of Hongkongers were already queuing outside the branch on Stanley Street. The betting centre holds a record of selling 47 Mark Six first prize tickets, the most of all branches. The last time a first prize ticket was drawn from the branch was in 2018.
A staff member said the estimated queuing time could be more than one hour.
Resident Yan Yau, who had queued for more than half an hour, said she felt confident about her odds with the Stanley Street branch’s blessings.
“I’ve been here to buy a ticket whenever there is a special occasion … I wouldn’t be here if I were not confident,” said the saleswoman in her forties.
“I plan to buy houses and cars [if I win the prize], and will also help those in need.”
The lottery was launched nearly five decades ago and the payout for a winning unit has never exceeded HK$100 million.
The highest payout to date was recorded on August 26, 2021, when a ticket holder won HK$91.24 million with a single HK$10 bet.
A 70-year-old retiree, surnamed Cheng, said he went to the betting centre because of the high winning rate.
“I will spend HK$100 or so … of course I want to win the top prize, but it is impossible,” he said.
Wang Nang, a 40-year-old repairman from Shenyang in mainland China’s Liaoning province, said the hype had brought him to the outlet.
“My colleagues brought me here, I am buying Mark Six tickets for the first time … usually I am not into the lottery,” he said.
