‘Hong Kong will embrace change,’ John Lee says as city welcomes 2025
Chief executive says city will have to ‘acclimatise and be proactive to take on changes brought by internal and external challenges’
Hong Kong will need to embrace changes and further integrate with mainland China in 2025, the city’s leader has said, while pledging that his administration will seek to build ties with new markets abroad.
Lee said the city would have to “acclimatise and be proactive to take on changes brought about by the changing environment internally and externally”.
“Hong Kong will have to embrace changes and take initiatives to align with mainland China’s strategic development,” he said.
The leader added that looked forward to the city reaching another milestone as an international innovation and technology (I&T) hub when a park begins operating this year.
The Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Co-operation Zone is located in the Lok Ma Chau Loop along the city’s border with the mainland. It was co-developed by the two cities as part of efforts to attract talent, create wealth and transform strategic industries, serving as a future engine of growth.
