Worker found dead on roof of Hong Kong building after falling while painting
Labour Department has launched investigation into industrial accident, while concern group calls the incident ‘unacceptable’
A female worker has been found dead on the roof of a building at Shek Kong Barracks, with Hong Kong police deeming it an industrial accident.
The Labour Department said it was aware of the case on Tuesday and that it had launched an investigation. A concern group said it was “unacceptable” for a person to have remained at their workplace without being noticed.
The force said it received a report of the woman, 67, lying on the roof of a building at Shek Kong Barracks along Route Twisk in the New Territories.
The woman, surnamed Kung, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said they believed she lost her balance on a ladder and fell while painting.
The case was later classified as an industrial accident by the force.
Asked about the incident, the Labour Department said it was aware of the case and had launched an investigation.
