Ng Sek-wu left his residence on Chuk Yuen Road in Wong Tai Sin on Sunday morning for a hike near Wu Kau Tang in the popular Plover Cove Country Park. He was taking part in an activity organised by a hiking club of which he was a member.

The group planned to depart from Wu Kau Tang at 8.30am and was expected to arrive at Yan Chau Tong Marine Park at 1.30pm.

Ng did not return home that night and called his wife, 79, at 10pm, telling her he had got lost on a hill and did not know where he was, a police source said.

He said he could return home the next day, but his phone battery ran out afterwards.
