Super Typhoon Yinxing: Hong Kong to issue T1 warning, 2 other storms may be brewing
No 1 warning signal will be issued between midday and 3pm on Friday, Observatory says
Hong Kong may be affected by two more tropical cyclones by the middle of next week, while the No 1 warning signal over an approaching super typhoon will be issued between midday and 3pm on Friday, the Observatory has said.
In a blog post on Thursday night, the forecaster asked residents to watch out for two more possible storms brewing in the east of the Philippines.
“There is a broad low-pressure area in the northwest Pacific Ocean of the east of the Philippines, and some convective clouds are developing to the east of that area,” it said.
“The latest forecast from computer models showed that there are chances of them developing into tropical cyclones next week, but the uncertainty is still high.”
The weather forecaster said on Thursday that Super Typhoon Yinxing was expected to enter within 800km (497 miles) of Hong Kong at around midnight.
“With Yinxing gradually edging closer to the coast of southern China, the Observatory will issue the No 1 standby signal between noon and 3pm [on Friday],” the forecaster said.
