Driver of 7-seater vehicle arrested after 2 pedestrians struck in Hong Kong

A man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after his seven-seater vehicle struck two pedestrians in Hong Kong, seriously injuring one and leaving the other in a critical condition.

The vehicle was travelling down Cheung Hong Street when the driver appeared to lose control at the junction with King’s Road in North Point at around 4.30pm on Wednesday.

The two women were on the pavement waiting to cross the road when they were struck.

One woman, 54, was found unconscious at the scene, and was in a critical condition. The other, 72, suffered a fractured leg and was in a serious condition.

Both were rushed to hospital for treatment.

The 47-year-old driver, who was not injured, was later arrested for dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm.
