The 24-year-old man, surnamed Xiang, fell into the sea at around 12.30pm on Monday after helping to secure a docked ship with ropes at a fill bank off Lung Mun Road in Tuen Mun.

The site is used to load ships with sand and gravel for transport to construction sites, according to a source. The site is managed by a subcontractor with the Civil Engineering and Development Department.

Upon receiving the report of the missing man on Monday, marine authorities and fire services deployed vessels to carry out a search and rescue operation, with the assistance of a Government Flying Service helicopter checking the area by air.

The insider said divers from the Fire Services Department carrying out an underwater search found the man’s body at a depth of 10 metres at around 7.19am on Wednesday.
