The girlfriend of a Hong Kong dancer severely injured after an accident at a Mirror concert has accused the CUHK Medical Centre of neglecting him after he fell from a support sling due to a loose safety buckle.

The centre on Friday evening confirmed a patient had fallen while being moved using the sling and pledged to take action to avoid a repeat of such incidents.

So Tsz-ching, the girlfriend of Mo Li Kai-yin, earlier this week alleged that staff negligence had caused the dancer to fall, which could worsen his injuries.

“Due to the negligence of a staff member, the safety buckle on a support sling was not checked properly, causing Mo’s upper body to suddenly fall backwards from a height,” she wrote in a social media post on Thursday.

So said that Li had luckily landed on one of his wheelchair’s armrests, or else his neck and head could have sustained further injuries.

“While small mistakes have happened before, this particular incident directly affected Mo’s safety and recovery, making it hard to overlook,” she said.

While she remained grateful to the doctors and nurses for taking care of Li and understood they had many responsibilities each day, she urged staff to “take their work seriously and professionally”.
